Mother Owl with Owlets
by Manasie Akpaliapik
These 3 owlets are ready to leave their mother. The artist has carved a human face on the back of the mother with inlaid abalone tears to portray the intense sadness of her babies about to leave the nest. It is purely evident in the mother owls eyes as well. This piece is an outstanding example of the genius of an Inuit Master Carver. To view the face, go back to the sculpture gallery.
