INFORMATION QUESTIONS

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Are the artists paid a fair price for their art? Do they receive a commission?

Gallery Indigena is committed to paying artists a fair wage for their work. Many of the artists set their own price for works we carry in the gallery. All the Inuit prints and carvings have their prices set by the Co-Ops the artists belong to.

Are you an Indigenous owned business?

Gallery Indigena is second generation family owned and operated business. However, the Gallery has long established relationships with many, if not all, of the artists represented in the gallery.

Do you do art appraisals?

Please visit our contact page to get in touch.

I’ve inherited an Inuit carving. How do I learn more about this art?

We always encourage clients to keep the small authentication tag that comes with every Inuit carving from the Inuit Art Co-Ops. That holds the details of where and which artist made the carving. On larger carvings, the artist’s name is often carved on the bottom, either in syllabics or the roman alphabet.

Do you sell art on approval?

We can release art on approval for private clients and for interior designers/ corporate clients on a case by case basis.  Please contact us.
