JACOB GEORGE

Cultural Group:

Birth Date:

Birthplace: Tsleil-Waututh Reserve, North Vancouver, BC, Canada

Since a young age, Jacob has been passionate about the art of carving, inspired by watching his uncle, Mark George, skillfully carve a totem pole. Jacob says carving provides him with a form of expression and a connection to his culture. It allows him to tell stories, preserve traditions, and honor his ancestors. The intricate details and the way his uncle transformed a simple piece of wood into a stunning work of art captivated Jacob's young mind.
With each piece of art he creates, he feels a special connection to the Creator. Before beginning a project, Jacob takes a moment to pray for guidance and knowledge. For Jacob, carving has become more than a hobby or skill. It is a way of life, a journey of self-discovery and a connection to his community. He is honored to contribute to preserving and reviving his cultural heritage through his artwork.
