Elisha Ipeelee is one of the younger carvers in the Iqaluit Inuit community. He comes from a long line of family carvers: Nouvyea, Seepee and Joamie Ipeelie. His father, Michael Ipeelie, is a carver.. It is not surprising that Elisha has followed the same artistic path as many of his relatives in Nunavut. Artistic talent is passed on through the family; carving techniques are not taught in an art academy. Recently, he is carving charming and inquisitive owls with precise incising on the body The artist loves to work in Antler—Antler shed from the caribou.
