Coast Tsimshian artist Heber Reece was born in Klemtu in northern British Columbia in 1955. He is an accomplished wood sculptor. His formal art training began at the artist cooperative "Ksan" in Hazelton, B.C. Among his teachers were well known artists Art Sterrit, Earl Muldoe and Vernon Stephens. Although his preferred medium is wood sculpture, Heber also is exploring painting. Recently he has been studying with jewellery artist Henry Green--designing Tsimshian motifs in sterling.
