It is with great anticipation that we present a preview of the 2023 Annual Cape Dorset Print collection. This collection consists of 34 images, each in a limited edition of 50, with 20 talented artists. Eight of these artists are new to the collection, some of whom you may recognize as carvers: Napachie Ashoona, Matthew Flaherty, Kakee Ningseoseak, Josie Pootoogook, Ashley Qavavau, Pitsiulaq Qimirpik, Susie Saila, and Napatchie Toonoo.
My love for Inuit prints began in 1970 with private viewings of the collections in our home. Over the next 52 years, we have presented the yearly print collections in our 3 gallery locations. I have had the opportunity to see many generations of artists present their work in the Annual Collections and have developed a personal relationship with many of them.
This year, my son Douglas and daughter Patti will be joining me in the longstanding tradition of presenting the Annual Cape Dorset prints. Thank you for your continuing interest in the art of Kinngait (Cape Dorset).
